Westlife dismiss Pop Idol song
Irish popstars Westlife have dismissed the song chosen for the Pop Idol winner as one of the "weakest[/i]" on their album.
Will Young will release Evergreen, an album track from the boyband's last album A World of Our Own, as part of a double A-side single in a fortnight.
However the group, who share the same management team as the Pop Idol star, said the song is not up to scratch.
Singer Bryan McFadden told GMTV: "It's one of the weakest songs on our album."
His point was echoed by bandmate Kian Egan who said: "When we heard the song at first we always knew it was going to be a great song. But when we recorded, it just wasn't a contender for our singles."

Will won the ITV1 talent search last Saturday after polling more than 4.6 million votes, 500,000 more than rival Gareth Gates.
Both singers performed Evergreen in front of more than 13 million TV viewers, along with Anything is Possible, a song written by Cathy Dennis, the woman behind Kylie Minogue's hit Can't Get You Out Of My Head.
Young releases both songs on 25 February and it is expected to become one of the fastest selling singles ever by a British artist.
Westlife are hoping to grab their tenth number one single when they release World of our Own next Monday.
They face strong competition from Minogue, who releases In Your Eyes, the second single off her album Fever.
The group has only missed out on the number one spot once, when Bob the Builder sneaked in ahead of them at Christmas 2000.
