We Scare The Boyz - 6 November 2007
BOYZONE have timed their 2008 reunion so they don’t look like crinkly old men compared to Westlife.
Ronan Keating finally agreed to step back into the manband after hearing their Irish successors are taking a year off.
Westlife were mentored by Ronan, 30, after he went solo. And despite years of rants about never going back, he’s had his arm well and truly twisted by ex-manager Louis Walsh, 55.
Launching new album Back Home at Harrods yesterday, Lifer Nicky Byrne, 29, reflected on the move.
Big
He told me: “It’s funny that Boyzone will be back just as we are having a break next year. Louis will be able to concentrate on that fully.
“Only Take That, Spice Girls, us and Boyzone would be able to reunite and do something big.
“I believe you have to sustain a certain amount of success before you can do it again.”
Although they are taking a well-earned break, Westlife will celebrate their 10-year anniversary next July.
Nicky revealed: “We’re thinking about a one-off stadium show or something that really marks it.”
But Nicky reckons they will have to do it without Brian McFadden, 27. He said: “Brian would never be part of it. We had to re-address how fickle everything was when he left and we managed to somehow come out of that. We don’t want to go back.”
They were another member down yesterday when 27-year-old Mark Feehily’s flight from Dublin was delayed due to fog. Nicky also told how Westlife dumped a collaboration with Jessica Simpson, 27.
He said: “We were meant to record I Do, which is on our new album, as a duet with Jessica but thought after the Diana Ross and Mariah Carey duets we wouldn’t do another just now.”
Wise, considering how she ruined These Boots Are Made For Walkin’.
