You're All Stars At Childline Charity Fun(d)fare - 29 January 2007 THOUSANDS of teenyboppers lifted the roof off Dublin's Point last night - and raised over €250,000 into the bargain - as they screamed for their pop idols at the annual Cheerios Childline Concert. Top-billing went to perennial tween favourites Westlife who, along with former X Factor winner Shayne Ward and boyband McFly, whipped the crowd into a deafening frenzy. And more than two years since his highly-publicised break with Westlife, former band member Brian McFadden also put in an appearance. He joined another boyband alumnus, Boyzone's Stephen Gately, as master of ceremonies. Brian had earlier done a soundcheck with his former bandmates fanning speculation of a once-off reunion. The event celebrated its 10th birthday last night and, after a decade of shows, has raised almost €2.2m for the children's helpline. Last night's performance alone is estimated to have generated more than €280,000 for the cause. Previous acts to have played at the event include Robbie Williams, Girls Aloud, All Saints, Brian McFadden, Sugababes, Boyzone and Busted. All acts donate their services free of charge as do organisers and the Point Theatre. The concert will be televised on RTE2 on February 18.
