McFLY have slagged off pop rivals Westlife for making an album of cover versions.
The young rockers flew into Glasgow yesterday to perform their hits at the Cash for Kids charity lunch.
Although they've recorded and performed over 20 well-known songs including Help, by The Beatles, Mr Brightside, by The Killers, and The Who's My Generation, the band said they'll never follow in the footsteps of the Irish crooners by releasing a CD of other people's songs.
Instead, the boys want fans to think of them as more like bad boy veterans, Oasis.
McFly lead singer, Danny Jones, told the Razz: "We've done lots of cover versions but it's not something we'd do on an album.
"We only really sing them for TV and stuff like that when we get specially asked, but we wouldn't do what Westlife have done and bring out an album.
"We just like to be a band who writes our own stuff. We want to be seen as a proper band like Oasis."
rest is blah blah blah about them & Cash For Kids

well,it is really what i want for westlife..write their own stuffs..as always..but then, hearing their own versions of some old song having me a second thought.theyre really great.no doubt.but im hoping that they'll be not just a typical boyband there, that they can do theyre own songs for their album. for McFly.. ([magsama kayoo ng oasis!)lol

Whatever McFly. You're just copycatting other bands. Westlife is a proper- and still will be- a proper band. Even though if they don't write their own songs. *aloof look*

Will McFly be as successful as westlife if they release an album of cover? Can they really do it as great as Westlife? What kind of band are them that make them that 'proper', anyway? I'm so mad!
