Credit: www.westlife.grMidweeks – Monday’s Albums Sales 01. Oasis 02. Westlife (Just 1.300 copies behind Oasis! Come on lads!! You can do it!) 03. The Beatles 04. George Michael 05. U2 Oasis and Westlife lead albums chart battle The much-anticipated battle in this week’s album chart will be an unlikely two-horse race between Oasis and Westlife, according to early retail reports. Oasis’s Stop The Clocks (Big Brother) is currently beating all comers, but with only 1300 sales separating it and Westlife’s The Love Album (S), the eventual victor is unlikely to become clear until the weekend. Both albums sold in excess of 50,000 copies on release yesterday. The Beatles are poised to debut at three with Love (Apple), while U2’s U218 (Mercury) has a battle on its hands with George Michael’s 25 (Aegean/Sony) for the number four spot. In a Christmas market saturated with greatest hits packages, Westlife’s Love Album and Razorlight’s self-titled effort could be the only albums in the Top Ten containing new recordings this week. Away from the Top Ten, new albums from Foo Fighters (RCA), Fron Male Voice Choir (UCJ), Tom Waits (Anti) and Akon (Universal) will chart. In the singles market, Take That are in contention for their first number one in a decade with Patience (Polydor), while Emma Bunton’s Children In Need single Downtown (19) the probable number two. Singles from The Feeling (Island), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Warner Bros), Lemar (RCA/White Rabbit) and Pink (LaFace) are likely high risers after getting released physically yesterday, while Nelly Furtado (Geffen), Booty Luv (Ministry Of Sound) and Jet (Atlantic) are set to enter the chart. has Oasis changed the melody of their music yet? I don't like to listen to their songs because it seems like i'm listening to a Monotone... all their songs sound the same...

the articles about the albums chart race are just crazy... one article says it's oasis in the lead, the other says it's the beatles and another says it's westlife... ;D anyway, here's the best one: Oasis and Beatles struggling in race for Number One Westlife take a lead in the UK album chartOasis's 'Best Of' collection 'Stop The Clocks' is being beaten by Westlife's 'The Love Album' in the battle for the Number One position on the album chart. The so called 'Super Monday' (November 20) included big albums released from The Beatles, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters and U2, but according to HMV's Gennaro Castaldo the race is being won by Westlife. "At the moment Westlife are 14,000 sales ahead of Oasis. It's between those two at the moment," he told NME.COM. "People don't rush out to buy 'Best Of's, which Oasis, The Beatles (whose 'LOVE' LP is actually a 'mash up' of their best-known songs) and U2 all have out at the moment. Westlife are benefiting from having a studio album out which people feel they have to get hold of on the week of release." "Westlife are likely to be Number One on Sunday (November 26) in the album chart, which is quite a coup for them." Source: www.nme.com/news/foo-fighters/25158

elton john supports westlife... Elton backs Westlife in chart battleFriday, November 24 2006, 09:16 UTC - by Dave West Sir Elton John has given his support to Westlife in their album chart battle with Oasis, U2 and The Beatles. The veteran rocker told The Sun he was delighted that sales of Oasis's greatest hits, Stop The Clocks, were being beaten by Westlife's The Love Album. In a week which also sees new releases from the other two big-hitters, he hit out at the Manc superband's guitarist. “I’m so glad Westlife are ahead of Oasis," he raged. “After what f****** Noel Gallagher said about me I couldn’t give a s*** about Oasis. "I go into f****** shops all the time myself, he’s just such a tosser. He’s an absolute tosser and he looks like Parker from Thunderbirds. They don’t deserve to be number one. It’s not a greatest hits album because they’ve left three of their biggest hits off it.” X Factor's Simon Cowell also put his weight behind the Irish group. “Westlife are smart — they know and respect their audience," he explained. “It doesn’t matter that some of their songs are covers. I’d rather have a cover version of a good song than a crap song." According to the paper, Westlife's sales stood at 102,000 on Wednesday, Oasis had 88,000, The Beatles' Love was at 69,000 and U2's 18 Singles trailed with 35,000 shifted. Source: www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds39797.html?rss----------------- actually, elton john's support is just secondary for me... what's more important are the figures in this article... westlife really is in the lead... ;D

Westlife set to win chart race
November 25, 2006
TOMORROW will be remembered as The Day The Music Died.
William Hill have now stopped taking bets on whether PESTLIFE will beat OASIS to No1 when this Sunday’s album chart is revealed.
The latest midweek figures show the Oirish crooners have shifted 159,000 copies of their dreadful release The Love Album, while Oasis’ Stop The Clocks has sold 139,000. There’s still time for Oasis fans to prevent this grave miscarriage of musical justice if they mount a giant stampede on record stores up and down the country.
But I’d say it is less likely to happen than MICHAEL JACKSON taking over from KONNIE HUQ as the new Blue Peter presenter.
This week I risked a barrage of abuse from Westlife fans when I called on Bizarre’s loyal army of readers to help thwart the boy band. hitting No1 with my Stop The C*cks campaign. And while you put up a brave fight, I fear the end is nigh.
Tomorrow, barring divine intervention, I’m afraid De Loife will be crowned No1 — thereby sounding the death knell for British music as we know it.
They saw off rock’s Holy Trinity of THE BEATLES, U2 and Oasis in what will go down in pop history as Black Sunday — or should that be Sunday Bloody Sunday? Perhaps it is now time for LIAM GALLAGHER to show his mettle and prove he really IS God and the saviour of rock ’n’ roll. Above I’ve conjured up a frightening image of how the future might look should the likes of Westlife and G4 conquer our once great nation.
Stools, cheesy covers and plastic grins will become obligatory for any budding rock star hoping to crack the British charts.
I’ve got my design wizards to mock up how BONO, PAUL McCARTNEY, Liam and NOEL GALLAGHER would look if they were forced to adopt the Westlife way.
I’m sure Britain’s stool manufacturers are rubbing their hands with glee.

i'm sure she's just disappointed that westlife is poised to win the race... hehe... ;D

The source is from the Sun. I did go to the official boards and it was posted under the House Of Westlife....if I'm not wrong. I was quite p****d by the writer. Oh what the heck. Westlife wins anyway *shrugs happily* (plus I'm still not recovering from the Mark-poster-saga! ) Sam knows just what I mean...

I've also put in my two cents worth at the official boards. Don't they think that by naming Liam Gallagher as some sort of God (did they really use caps in the first letter, ack!) and savior they don't deserve to be struck down by lighting??? I guess its genre discrimination on the part of rock worshippers. I respect rock musicians and what they do (save for what some of them do about their personal lives) but their fans should accept the fact that they should NOT confine the scope and definition of "British music" to the music of the Beatles and their various incarnations. And the nice guys deserve to have fun too, right?!
