this gives me the impression that westlife is concentrating on the uk and "leaving" ireland "behind"...

"the rose" went up to #1 on the irish singles chart this week: Irish Chartit's their 13th irish number one... and they currently are the artist (along with the beatles) with the second most irish number ones... Most Irish Number Ones (the list isn't updated yet... ;D) lastly ;D, uptown girl and you raise me up were the best selling singles in ireland for 2001 and 2005, respectively... ;D

hear ye! hear ye! AKON TAKES EMINEM TO NUMBER ONE EMINEM is back at top of the UK singles chart after his SMACK THAT collaboration with AKON knocked Irish boyband WESTLIFE off the top spot. The Detroit rapper has been dogged by rumours of retirement but his raps with R+B sensation Akon pushed Westlife's THE ROSE into third place. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's MY LOVE climbs 12 places to take second spot, while reformed boyband TAKE THAT show PATIENCE at number four - it's their first hit in a decade. BEYONCE is a non-mover at number five with IRREPLACEABLE. Best Of collections dominate the UK album chart this week - GEORGE MICHAEL's TWENTY FIVE is a new entry at number one knocking JAMIROQUAI's HIGH TIMES - SINGLES 1992-2006 into second place. SUGABABES' OVERLOADED - THE SINGLES COLLECTION is another new entry at number three, while THE SOUND OF - THE GREATEST HITS from GIRLS ALOUD falls one place to number four. ANGELIS' eponymous LP falls three places to complete to top five. from contactmusic.com *** well at least theyve been in the top spot...
